Bessie Thomas

Bessie Thomas was born in Jefferson County; Louisville Ga on April 28,1923. She transitioned on Saturday August 3, 2019 in Philadelphia PA.  She was 96 years of age. Many of her friends and family members called her “Tot” which was her nickname. She was educated in the public school of Jefferson County. At an early age she joined Jones Grove Baptist Church under the leadership of G.H. Mitchell.After uniting in Holy matrimony to Isaiah Davis, they relocated to Philadelphia Pa. She continued her spiritual growth by uniting with Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church. She was a faithful member for many years. She worked for 50 years as a floor supervisor and a manager of the day shift in the finish detail of the garments at Cinderella Dress Factory. After the death of her husband, she joined Mars Hill Baptist Church (now known as Zoe Baptist Church) under the leadership of the late Rev. Isaac Smith Sr. Bessie was a faithful member serving as a deaconess, a member of the gospel choir, mass choir, and the prayer band. Bessie later united in holy matrimony to Rev. James Thomas, who also proceeded her in death. Due to her love of flowers they located to Bristol, Pa. Her spiritual growth continues as she located to the People Church of God under the leadership of Bishop Melvin Howard. Regardless of to where she went, she always put God first. While residing in Bristol, she opened her home to those in need. Bessie always had compassion and concern for the people in need. She was loved by her community because she generated love. She leaves to cherish her loving memory her loving family and friends. A funeral service will be held on Saturday August 10, 2019 at Zoe Bible Fellowship, 2522 W. Dauphin Street Philadelphia PA 19132. The viewing will begin at 9:00 am with the service to follow at 10:00 am. Burial will be held at Merion Memorial Park 59 Rockhill Road, Bala Cynwyd PA 19004.
