Bishop Leonard C. Goins, Sr.

Bishop Leonard C. Goins, Sr. transitioned on Wednesday, September 23, 2020  in Philadelphia, Pa. He was 79 years of age. He was born May 1, 1941 in Portsmouth, VA.  Bishop Goins served in the United States Army from January 1960 through August 1968. During his life time he worked for the state of Pennsylvania as Public Utility Commissioner.  Bishop founded Chestnut Hill Church of Philadelphia fellowshipping with the Churches of God in Christ.  It began in a storefront at 26 East Mt. Airy Avenue, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  The church later moved to its current location in 1986 at 1159 E Chelten Avenue.   He was the founding Prelate of the Lion of Judah Pentecostal Churches International. Bishop served in a leadership capacity with the Pentecostal Network of Philadelphia and was a member of the Black Clergy of Philadelphia and Vicinity.  He served as a member of Philadelphia Law Enforcement Clergy Support Unit.  He also served over 10 years as President of the 14th District Clergy Support Unit.  Bishop Goins loved governmental and community services. He will be missed by his loving wife,  family and other relatives and friends. A public viewing  will be held on Friday, October 2, 2020  at Chestnut Hill Church 1159 East Chelten Avenue Philadelphia, Pa 19138. The viewing will be held from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm. Burial with military honors will be held at Washington Crossing VA National Cemetery.  Please remember the family in your prayers.
