Dorothy A. Brown

Dorothy A. Brown was born on January 3, 1933 in Bethlehem, PA to the late William and Mamie Brown.She attended Liberty High School in Bethlehem, PA and received her higher education at Temple University in Philadelphia, PA receiving a BA and MS in Education. Dorothy grew up attending church at Second Baptist Church located in Bethlehem, PA.  She later joined New Bethlehem Baptist Church in Philadelphia, PA as a college freshman. Dorothy was a dedicated music teacher at various schools inside the Philadelphia School District; she retired from The Widener School. Dorothy was a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated and she proudly served as the president of the Philadelphia Alumnae Chapter from 1981 – 1983.  She dedicated her time and talents to her beloved sorority, upholding the values and principles upon which the sorority was founded.She leaves to cherish her memories, sister; Ruby Williams of Stone Mountain, GA, brother; Edward Brown of Bethlehem, PA and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends. A celebration of her life will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at New Bethlehem Baptist Church, 4036 Aspen Street Philadelphia, PA. 19104. Burial will be held on Monday November 14, 2016 at 10:00 am at Union Cemetery, 85 Main Street Hellertown, PA. 18055.
